Our client was seeking approval for the construction of a coffee pod unit, specifically for the use of Starbucks, on the site of an existing KFC unit. The Highway Authority, North West Leicestershire, were keen to ascertain whether two units could operate from the site with sufficient parking provision. Concern was also raised as to the ability for both operators to service the site safely post-development. TPI (now part of Motion) liaised with the Highway Authority to agree the scope of the work required. We carried out parking beat surveys of the existing car park operation and produced an assessment of the impact of the coffee POD unit through use of the TRICS database. This confirmed that the car park would operate within capacity. TPI’s swept path analysis demonstrated how both KFC and the coffee pod could service the site safely, without conflicting with customers. The Transport Statement we produced to support the scheme helped to achieve outline planning permission.
